I started this as a 365 project. I realized that I am not disciplined enough to post one photo a day, so I've decided to use it as a place to document my mobile photography. Because, as they say, the best camera is the one you have with you!

I know cat photos are silly, but I can’t resist. He just jumps in front of me and poses. How do I say no to that?

In honor of the composer Mendelssohn’s 200th birthday today, I decided to play part of “Songs Without Words” when I realized I also needed a photo for the day. I wanted to use my flash off camera, but my cheap wireless trigger battery was dead. That gave me the idea of ‘painting’ with my flash (firing the flash 4 times from 4 different places) while my camera was set for long exposure. So, after un-burying my piano, finding a black sheet to block the background, finding a good angle for my camera, figuring out a good exposure and perfecting my technique for firing the flash, my cat decided she wanted to see what was so interesting about the piano. Maybe I should go play some piano now.

My cat, Yuki, is the best model when I want to play with my camera. Tonight, she is lounging while I’m on the computer.
